We have redecorated the Patti Bar, using 2.5 tons of plaster on one wall alone! We may have put too much on too fast, for it has cracked again.
The ‘hole-in-the-wall’ to the right of the fireplace once housed a safe. The owners before us tell the story of the owners before them having to leave in a hurry, abandoning valuables in the safe. They later revisited the castle, then under new ownership, and raided their own safe, knocking through the wall to penetrate through the back of the safe.
An old patterned Axminster carpet was replaced with a ‘character oak’ solid wood floor in 2011.
As this bar is used as the dog friendly restaurant, dog beds are now provided for guest's dogs to lie on instead of havnig to settle on a hard wood floor.
