In around 2002/3 we created a separate accommodation block out of the old ‘Nurses Block’. There are eleven rooms, communal showers, a disabled bathroom and a small galley kitchen and large living room providing inexpensive budget accommodation. The internal walls are all the same as they were originally, when this building was occupied by nurses in the Hospital days.
It is well suited to groups on a low budget, for budget B&B or even a group on a semi-self-catering package.
However nowadays people do expect en-suites even for the low B&B prices charged. The Nurses Block does not meet the standards required by those accustomed to modern en-suite accommodation and is not graded under current tourist board guidelines – being more ‘hostel’ standard than guest house or hotel standard.
It is still used for overflow wedding guests and is popular with groups of ghost hunters on the Share the Experience Ghost Tour.
